Instructor-led discussion of ground ladder selection, carries, raises, and use. Officer selects focus. Topics that fit this sheet include: ladder selection (length, type, and purpose), one / two / three / four-firefighter carries (suitcase, shoulder, beam, flat), one and two-firefighter raises (beam, flat, fly-out vs fly-in), ladder placement for rescue vs roof access vs window vent, climbing angle (75° / 4-to-1 ratio), heeling, tying in, leg-locking, ladder bail, hose advancement up a ladder, ladder rescue (conscious, unconscious, infant, large patient), and ladder maintenance / inspection.   4. 4. Discuss safety considerations (overhead hazards, footing, weather).
  5. 5. Review department-specific ladder complement on apparatus.
