Classroom-only instructor-led discussion of firefighter health and safety. No facility component. Officer selects focus. Topics that fit this sheet include: cancer prevention and exposure reduction (gross decon on scene, hood exchange, PPE laundering, station cleanliness, NFPA 1851), cardiovascular health and physical fitness (NFPA 1583), heat stress and rehab (NFPA 1584), bloodborne pathogens (OSHA 1910.1030), infection control and PPE for EMS, behavioral health and PTSD / stress (NFPA 1500 Ch. 12, IAFF Peer Support, Critical Incident Stress Management — CISM), suicide prevention and warning signs, sleep deprivation and shift work, hearing conservation, respiratory protection (OSHA 1910.134), and post-incident decon and rehab. Document specific topic covered. Reference: NFPA 1500, NFPA 1582, NFPA 1583, NFPA 1584, NFPA 1851.
