Instructor-led tabletop discussion of officer-level tactical decision-making, size-up, and risk-benefit analysis. Officer selects focus. Topics that fit this sheet include: officer perspective on size-up (the 13-point size-up, COAL WAS WEALTH, BE SAHF) — applied vs the firefighter view, recognition-primed decision making (RPD) for experienced officers, naturalistic decision-making in dynamic environments, risk-benefit analysis ("We will risk a lot to save savable lives, we will risk little for savable property, we will risk nothing for property already lost" — Brunacini), the strategic mode decision (offensive / defensive / transitional / non-attack) and re-evaluation triggers, building the action plan in the first 90 seconds, RECEO-VS / LIP / SLICE-RS tactical priorities, communicating intent and assignments, identifying and managing flow paths, calling the audible (when to abandon initial plan), reading smoke and fire growth, and command presence under stress.
