Driver/operator session focused on aerial-specific JPRs from NFPA 1010 (2024) Chapter 13 (formerly NFPA 1002 Ch. 6). Covers apparatus positioning, stabilization, deployment of the aerial device, elevated streams, rescue operations, and aerial inspection. Officer selects topic and apparatus. Document specific evolution.

  1. 1. Position the aerial apparatus on the fireground accounting for hazards, scrub area, and target objective (NFPA 1010 13.2.1).
  2. 2. Stabilize the apparatus per manufacturer specifications, accounting for ground conditions and short-jacking limits (NFPA 1010 13.2.2).
  3. 3. Deploy and operate the aerial device — extend, retract, rotate, elevate — within the load chart envelope (NFPA 1010 13.2.3).
  4. 4. Operate an elevated master stream from the aerial (NFPA 1010 13.2.4).
  5. 5. Perform an aerial device inspection per NFPA 1910 and document any deficiencies.
