Department driver/operator check-off for rescue apparatus — heavy rescue, medium rescue, light rescue, squad, and utility. NFPA 1010 (2024) does NOT have a dedicated rescue apparatus chapter (confirmed via Pro Board prerequisites table); the applicable NFPA reference is Chapter 11 (general D/O), with 11.4 covering operation of fixed systems on the vehicle not addressed elsewhere. Covers pre-trip, four standard maneuvers, PTO-driven systems, and scene support. This is a department check-off — NOT a Pro Quals certification.

1. 1. Conduct a complete pre-trip inspection of the rescue apparatus including chassis, drivetrain, scene-support systems, and compartment inventory.
2. 2. Demonstrate the four standard driving maneuvers — alley dock, serpentine, confined-space turnaround, diminishing clearance — within department time and accuracy standards.
3. 3. Operate the PTO and PTO-driven systems on the apparatus, including (as equipped) generator, hydraulic rescue tool pump, and winch (NFPA 1010 11.4).
4. 4. Set up and operate scene support systems — light tower, on-board air / cascade, scene lighting, and any vehicle-mounted scene power.
5. 5. Verify compartment inventory against the department inventory sheet and identify any missing, damaged, or out-of-service equipment.
6. 6. Review department rescue apparatus SOG and demonstrate familiarity with response role and staging expectations.
