Generic roadway driver training sheet for any apparatus type — engine, rescue, aerial, brush/wildland, tanker, command/staff vehicle. Officer selects the apparatus and the maneuvers/conditions covered for the session. Covers the NFPA 1010 (2024) Chapter 11 general D/O JPRs: pre-trip inspection, operating the vehicle in traffic and adverse conditions, and the four standard apparatus maneuvers. Document the specific apparatus and maneuvers covered.

1. 1. Perform a visual and operational pre-trip inspection of the assigned apparatus and identify any deficiencies (NFPA 1010 11.2.1).
2. 2. Operate the apparatus on a roadway and demonstrate safe vehicle control during acceleration, braking, turning, lane changes, intersection negotiation, and adverse conditions (NFPA 1010 11.3.1).
3. 3. Successfully complete the four standard NFPA driver maneuvers — alley dock, serpentine, confined space turnaround, and diminishing clearance — without contact (NFPA 1010 11.3.2 – 11.3.5).
4. 4. Back the apparatus into a restricted space using a spotter and approved hand signals.
5. 5. Demonstrate due regard during emergency response — controlled speed, complete intersection stops, and use of warning devices in compliance with department SOG and state law.
