D/O Facility — Tanker / Tender Evolutions
Hours
4
ISO Category
Driver/Operator
Equipment
Tanker(s), pumper(s), portable tanks, dump valves, jet siphon, fill connections, stopwatch

Full-scale hands-on facility training (3-6 hours) covering tanker / tender driver-operator evolutions. Officer selects evolutions. Possible evolutions include: full tanker shuttle setup (fill site at hydrant or draft, dump site at incident with portable tank, multiple tankers cycling), gravity dump operations (rear dump, side dump), pumped dump operations, jet siphon / jet dump for portable tank transfer between tanks, nurse operations (tanker stays connected to pumper), apparatus driving with full and empty tank (acceleration, braking distance comparison, cornering, slope), backing the tanker into a fill or dump position (use of spotter, mirror checks), portable tank deployment and stowage, calculating tanker shuttle GPM equivalent (cycle time × tank capacity), troubleshooting (slow fill, blocked dump, lost suction at fill site), and rollover-prevention discussion with hands-on review of high-CG cornering. Each evolution includes pre-brief, full evolution, AAR, and reset. Reference: NFPA 1002, NFPA 1142, NFPA 1901, NFPA 1911. Document shuttle GPM, cycle times, and findings.

  1. 1. Set up and operate full tanker shuttle within target cycle time.
  2. 2. Demonstrate dump and fill operations.
  3. 3. Demonstrate jet siphon / jet dump for portable tank transfer.
  4. 4. Demonstrate safe driving of loaded tanker (cornering, braking).
  5. 5. Calculate effective GPM of the shuttle and document.
