Full-scale hands-on facility training (3-6 hours) covering EMS skills at the BLS or ALS level appropriate to crew certification. Officer selects skills / scenarios. Possible scenarios include: high-performance CPR with AED (pit crew), full cardiac arrest scenario with airway and IV/IO (ALS), trauma assessment and treatment (TQ application, wound packing, spinal motion restriction, splinting), multi-system trauma with extrication, pediatric medical / trauma scenarios, OB delivery scenario, mass casualty triage (START / SALT) with multiple manikins, suspected stroke / STEMI scenarios, overdose with naloxone administration, anaphylaxis with epi, and patient packaging from awkward positions. Each scenario includes pre-brief, full scenario with assessment-treatment-transport handoff, AAR, and reset. Reference: state EMS protocols, AHA, NREMT skill sheets, NFPA 1001 Ch. on EMS / first aid. Document skills and scenarios completed.

  1. 1. Complete the assessment and treatment within scenario time.
  2. 2. Demonstrate skill per protocol / NREMT sheet.
  3. 3. Demonstrate effective team communication and handoff.
  4. 4. Document the scenario as a PCR (training).
  5. 5. Conduct AAR and identify improvements.
