Full-scale hands-on facility training (3-6 hours) covering primary and secondary search evolutions with reduced visibility (live smoke, theatrical smoke, or blacked-out masks). Officer selects evolutions for the day. Possible evolutions include: standard wall search (left-hand, right-hand) with rescue manikin, oriented search (officer-anchored), split search, large-area search with rope (commercial / warehouse), VEIS / VEIES with throw ladder and window entry, search with TIC, search with hoseline, multi-room residential search, multi-victim scenarios, rescue drag and lift to extraction point, and primary-then-secondary search of full structure. Each evolution includes pre-brief, walk-through, full evolution, AAR, and reset. Reference: NFPA 1001, IFSTA Essentials. Document evolutions, victim location times, and crew performance.

  1. 1. Complete primary search of assigned area within target time.
  2. 2. Locate, package, and remove rescue manikin to safe area.
  3. 3. Demonstrate effective TIC use and verbal/tactile communication.
  4. 4. Demonstrate VEIS or other targeted search where applicable.
  5. 5. Conduct AAR and document findings.
