Description: Self-paced online training covering NFPA 1620 Standard for Pre-Incident Planning. Personnel will complete 8 modules covering building construction types, occupancy classifications, water supply and needed fire flow calculations, fire protection systems, hazardous materials identification, site survey methodology, and a capstone pre-fire plan exercise using the department's 12-page Pre-Fire Plan Data Sheet format. Training is accessed at nfpa1620-training.centfire6.workers.dev and includes interactive exercises, quizzes, and a final pre-plan assignment for review.

  1. Identify the five types of building construction and their fire behavior characteristics per NFPA 220.
  2. Classify occupancies and assess life safety concerns including occupant load calculations.
  3. Calculate Needed Fire Flow using the ISO formula (C × O × [1 + (X + P)]).
  4. Identify fire protection systems including sprinkler types, standpipe classes, and FDC locations.
  5. Recognize hazardous materials using NFPA 704 placards, SDS sheets, and Tier II reports.
  6. Conduct a systematic building survey using department pre-fire plan procedures.
  7. Complete a 12-page Pre-Fire Plan Data Sheet for a selected building.
  8. Demonstrate understanding of department technology integration including business database, hydrant auto-matching, and GPS mapping.
